18.1.2024 | On Thursday 18 January, the Government appointed Petteri Tiippana to serve as Director General of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK), starting on 1 February 2024. The appointment is for a fixed term until 31 January 2029.

24.2.2022 | Simo Nurmi has served as Director General of the Energy Authority since 2015. The Government decided on 24 February 2022 to continue his appointment for a seven-year term starting on 1 April.

2.12.2020 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has adopted the first decisions concerning investment aid for projects that rapidly phase out the use of coal energy. Aid was granted to four projects totalling EUR 7,715,880. The supported projects involve using non-combustion-based technologies in district heat generation.

19.6.2019 | Licentiate of Science in Technology Nina Kopola has been appointed as the Director General of Business Finland starting on 1 September 2019. In 2011–2018 Kopola served as President and CEO of Suominen Corporation. Before that, she held various leading positions at Dynea in 2000–2011. She has also worked at Neste Chemicals.

25.8.2023 | The proposal of the Ministry of Finance for the 2024 budget and spending limits for 2024–2027 ensures implementation of the policies in the Government Programme. The budget proposal totals EUR 87.2 billion, and a deficit of EUR 10.1 billion is proposed. The budget total is EUR 3.7 billion higher than the total budgeted for 2023, including the first supplementary budget. The budget proposal will be published in full at budjetti.vm.fi on Monday 28 August.

21.11.2019 | On 21 November 2019, the Government appointed Riku Huttunen (M. Soc. Sc.) as Director-General of the Energy Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment for a five-year period from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2024. Mr Huttunen will continue in the position where he started for the first time on 1.1.2015.

18.1.2019 | A total of 42 persons applied for the post of Business Finland’s Director General by the end of the application round. The selected person will be appointed for a fixed term of five years. The new Director General’s term starts on 1 September 2019. The Director General will be appointed by the Government on the proposal of Mika Lintilä, Minister of Economic Affairs.
