Information gathering on threats to national security and national defence has become more effective, too, since the new intelligence powers entered into force. 19.12.2019 | From the beginning of 2020, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will be responsible for the administration of labour migration matters. This transfer of duties was agreed on in the Government Programme. The objective is to link labour and student migration more closely to employment, industrial, innovation, education and immigration policies.

17.12.2020 | The Government has proposed on 17 December 2020, that the Aliens Act be amended to more effectively prevent the exploitation of foreign labour. The legal position of victims of exploitation will also improve. The amendment aims to improve the detection of work-related exploitation.

In addition, the police must ensure uniform practices in the investigation of online targeting and shaming.
