22.8.2024 | On Thursday 22 August, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed Finland’s participation in informal ministerial meetings during the Hungarian EU Council Presidency, efforts to advance Finland’s EU policy priorities and two upcoming informal council meetings.

16.9.2024 | The governments of Finland and Sweden met in Stockholm on Monday 16 September to accelerate and deepen cooperation between the two countries. The joint meeting adopted a declaration which covers cooperation in several key sectors of society.

19.6.2024 | In its meeting on Wednesday 19 June, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed the progress of Finland’s efforts to influence EU policy and ways to increase the number of Finns working in EU institutions. 16.2.2023 | On 16 February 2023, the President of the Republic approved amendments to the Postal Act. At the same time, provisions on government grants for newspaper delivery included in the Postal Act were confirmed. The support will be regulated in more detail in a government decree. The aim is to ensure equal access to postal services as well as to secure the conditions for the five-day delivery of newspapers across Finland.

On 12 September 2018, the Commission proposed to end seasonal clock changes in Europe in 2019. According to the Commission's proposal, Member States will decide whether they want to maintain permanent winter- or summer-time. Clocks are changed in all EU Member States at the same time on the same date. The days are always the last Sunday of March and October.

17.12.2025 | Earlier this year, Finland’s Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen authorised the Finnish Defence Forces to procure synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites from the Finnish company ICEYE Oy. Finland aims to build international cooperation around the use of these satellites.

4.2.2021 | On 4 February 2021, the Government allocated EUR 8 million to regional councils for regional development and EUR 5 million for the launch of ecosystem agreements between the State and cities. In addition, EUR 400,000 was granted to the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme for the sudden structural change caused by the closure of a bus body manufacturing plant by Scania’s subsidiary SOE Busproduction Finland Oy in Lahti.
