7.5.2026 | The State is selling Class B shares in Fingrid to OP Pohjola. Earlier this year, the State acquired the Class A shares in Fingrid owned by Ilmarinen. Fifty of these shares will now be converted into Class B shares. Following the arrangement, the State’s holdings in Fingrid will 59.5 per cent.

The programme for his visit included meetings with Commissioner for Democracy, Justice and the Rule of Law Michael McGrath, Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and Executive Vice-President for Cohesion and Reforms Raffaele Fitto. He also took part in a high-level event focusing on the eastern border regions of the EU.

22.8.2024 | The responsibility for the ownership steering of Arctia Ltd will be transferred from the Ownership Steering Department of the Prime Minister’s Office to the Ministry of Transport and Communications. On 22 August 2024, the Government issued a decree amending the Decree on the Ministry of Transport and Communications and a decree amending the Decree on the Prime Minister's Office.

10.2.2026 | Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand will visit Strasbourg on 11–12 February. The Minister’s itinerary includes high-level meetings with representatives of the European Parliament and Council of Europe. The purpose of the visit is to discuss the goals of Finland's EU policy with the European Parliament. Discussions with the Council of Europe will cover the role of the Council in supporting reforms in EU candidate countries relating to rule of law.

25.1.2026 | The EU General Affairs Council (GAC) will meet in Brussels on Monday 26 January. The Council will discuss the European Democracy Shield, continue the rule of law dialogue and hear a presentation from the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU on the priorities of its programme. Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand will represent Finland at the meeting.

11.12.2025 | Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand attended an informal meeting of EU ministers for European affairs in Lviv, Ukraine, on 10–11 December. Discussions at the meeting focused on support for Ukraine on its path to EU membership. The meeting offered an opportunity to assess Ukraine’s progress and strengthen support for the necessary reforms.

1.6.2023 | On 1 June 2023, the Government decided to amend the Government Decree on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment to add the National Drug Discovery Center Ltd under the Ministry’s mandate. The centre was previously under the competence of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
