14.3.2025 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health held a stakeholder event on 11 March to discuss the pandemic treaty that is currently being negotiated under the World Health Organization (WHO). The aim of the treaty is to strengthen international preparedness for pandemics and other public health emergencies.

På stats- och regeringschefernas agenda står särskilt stödet till Ukraina, de ökade spänningarna i Mellanöstern, Europas försvar och säkerhet samt stärkandet av konkurrenskraften. Statsminister Petteri Orpo representerar Finland vid mötet.

14.7.2025 | FN:s högnivåforum för utvärdering och uppföljning av hållbar utveckling sammanträder i New York den 14–23 juli. Vid detta möte utvärderas årligen hur världens länder har framskridit i arbetet med att uppnå FN:s mål för hållbar utveckling.

29.11.2024 | Från den 1 december 2024 upphör Lantmäteriverket att förmedla data i realtid från fasta satellitpositioneringssystem, det vill säga basstationer i nätet av GNSS-mottagare (FinnRef-nätet), till EPN-nätet som samlar in data från europeiska fasta GNSS-basstationer.

19.3.2024 | The World Health Organization (WHO) is preparing a pandemic treaty to improve global pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. The next round of treaty negotiations will be held in Geneva on 18–29 March, and Finland will take part in the negotiations.

31.1.2024 | The REACT-EU additional funding allocated to regions and sectors most affected by the coronavirus pandemic has largely met the long-term development needs of companies and entrepreneurs. According to a recently completed final evaluation of the REACT-EU additional funding, the funding has been implemented successfully, considering the other pandemic-related funding instruments used at the same time.

22.6.2022 | On 22 June 2022, the Government appointed the Advisory Board for Network Security for a new term of office. The role of the Advisory Board is to assess and develop the security of domestic communications networks and to support the authorities' decision-making processes. The Board was appointed for the period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024.

30.9.2022 | Various parties are currently reviewing the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization is preparing a new pandemic treaty to improve pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. On 28 September, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health arranged a meeting for stakeholders to discuss the treaty negotiations.

5.12.2022 | The World Health Organization (WHO) is preparing a new international pandemic treaty to improve pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. The aim is for the treaty to be ready in May 2024. The third meeting of the intergovernmental negotiating body (INB) to discuss the treaty will be held in Geneva on 5–7 December.

Samtalsämnen med västra Balkanländernas statsledningar är Finlands ansökan om medlemskap i Nato, dess betydelse för stärkandet av Natos säkerhet och Natos framtida riktlinjer. Dessutom diskuteras Albaniens, Nordmakedoniens och Montenegros EU-anslutningsprocesser.

20.12.2021 | The economy will grow rapidly in 2021 and 2022, although growth will be slower than was expected at the turn of the year, due to the acceleration in the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictive measures, the Ministry of Finance projects in its Economic Survey, published on 20 December.

21.11.2022 | The employment ministers of the Nordic Council of Ministers will meet in Oslo on Tuesday 22 November 2022. The Ministers will discuss an OECD research project that examines the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the Nordic labour market. They will also debate the future challenges affecting work and the ways to strengthen the Nordic working life model.

19.9.2023 | The high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York includes high-level meetings on pandemics and universal health coverage. State Secretary Laura Rissanen will represent Finland at these meetings. 

13.5.2022 | On 12 May 2022, the European Commission decided that the more flexible state aid rules that were introduced to mitigate the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic would largely end on 30 June 2022. The decision was based on the Commission’s assessment that the coronavirus pandemic no longer has a negative impact on the EU economy. However, the measures under the temporary state aid rules to support the recovery of the EU will remain in force until the end of 2022 and 2023.
