24.9.2025 | International experts create growth and jobs in Finland. A new campaign aims to attract international top talent in the deep technology sectors from India, Brazil and the United States, as well as European countries.

12.9.2025 | Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto will lead a Team Finland visit to the US on 15–18 September 2025. The visit will focus on quantum technology. Puisto will be accompanied by a business delegation representing 13 companies and organisations.

19.12.2022 | Finland and a number of other top countries in quantum technology have launched a portal for cooperation. The portal provides information on collaboration opportunities between the countries in quantum technology, especially in doctoral degrees, advanced studies and visitor exchanges.

16.11.2020 | VTT and IQM have entered into an agreement to establish a co-innovation partnership and begin building Finland’s first quantum computer. The cooperation will bring together top expertise in quantum technologies and enable a leap in Finland’s quantum capabilities. The government of Finland has granted the project EUR 20.7 million funding.

20.10.2025 | Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will travel to the Province of Ontario, Canada, on 20–23 October 2025. During his visit, the Minister will visit Toronto and the country’s capital Ottawa.

8.12.2025 | The EU’s Competitiveness Council will be held in Brussels on 8–9 December 2025. Finland will be represented by Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen (internal market and industrial policy matters) and Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto (research, innovation and space matters).

19.9.2025 | On Friday 19 September, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed the European Commission’s proposal for the next multiannual financial framework, which will serve as the EU’s budget for 2028–2034. The Ministerial Committee on EU Affairs also outlined Finland’s positions on the proposal concerning the European High-Performance Computing (EuroHPC) Joint Undertaking and matters to be discussed at the next meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council.

18.11.2025 | The updated list of dual-use items subject to export controls in the EU, adopted by the European Commission in September, entered into force on 15 November 2025.

4.7.2025 | The European Commission plans to support the establishment of AI gigafactories across EU Member States. From Finland, technology leader Nokia, along with a business consortium it has assembled, has stepped forward with an expression of interest to bring an AI gigafactory to the country and has taken part in the Commission’s call. The Finnish Government backs the expression of interest submitted by the business consortium led by Nokia.
