25.3.2026 | The final report of the expert group appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture examines the decline in young people’s confidence in the future. The group presents 36 recommendations to improve the situation. The final report was submitted to the Minister of Youth, Sport and Physical Activity Mika Poutala on Wednesday, 25 March 2026.

10.3.2023 | On Friday 10 March, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change Maria Ohisalo signed two memorandums of understanding with the Ukrainian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Ministry of Infrastructure and Ministry of Communities and Territories Development. 18.3.2025 | The Nordic ministers responsible for sports have signed a joint letter to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The letter states that the Nordic countries will continue to support the organisation financially but are concerned about recent disputes over doping control.

3.7.2025 | The European Commission has awarded EUR 91.01 million under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to nine projects in Finland. Of this, around EUR 59.60 million will go to government initiatives.

28.5.2025 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo travelled to Kyiv on Wednesday 28 May at the invitation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

6.3.2025 | Ministers from the Nordic and Baltic countries (Nordic-Baltic Eight, NB8) will convene at a meeting of the Governors to the World Bank Group (WPG) in Stockholm on 6 March. The main topics on the agenda are the World Bank’s support to Ukraine, international development financing, job creation and clean transition. Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will represent Finland at the meeting.

4.10.2024 | Finland is one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine in Europe. Finland has sent wide-ranging support to Ukraine; defence material; civilian material; humanitarian aid; and development cooperation. In a short period, Ukraine has become Finland’s most significant partner in development cooperation. Finland also supports Ukraine as part of the European Union.

12.6.2024 | Prime Minister Orpo reiterated Finland’s continued support for Ukraine at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Berlin on 11–12 June. The conference focused on support for Ukraine’s economy and reconstruction and on the reforms needed for Ukraine’s convergence with the EU.

7.6.2024 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Berlin on 11–12 June. The conference will focus on economic support, reconstruction and reforms for the future of Ukraine and will be co-hosted by Ukraine and Germany.

8.3.2024 | Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen visits Kyiv on 8 March 2024. The purpose of the visit is to discuss the environmental damages caused by the war, energy situation in Ukraine and Finland’s support for Ukraine’s reconstruction and assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector.

12.1.2024 | The 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will take place in Davos, Switzerland, on 15–19 January. Finland will be represented at the meeting by Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen.

14.5.2024 | The Finnish Heritage Agency and its partners have produced a 3D model of Petäjävesi Old Church to help preserve valuable information of this cultural heritage site for future generations. Accurate measurement data will also help those planning the restoration and repairs of the church.

9.11.2023 | While continuing to suffer from the consequences of Russia’s invasion, Ukraine is busy preparing for reconstruction. Around forty Finnish companies, led by Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio, will participate in Rebuild Ukraine, the exhibition and conference to be held in Warsaw on 14–15 November 2023.

7.9.2023 | Finland will seek a total of EUR 43.16 million in funding for nine military mobility projects under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme. The Ministerial Finance Committee endorsed the applications on 7 September 2023.
