10.12.2025 | The latest survey reveals that private copying of music and video content in Finland remains on a downward trajectory. In 2025, approximately 661,000 residents copied music or video for private use, down from 709,000 in 2024. Despite fewer people copying, the total number of copied files remains stable at an estimated 161–194 million.

8.8.2025 | For its main title of expenditure, the Prime Minister's Office proposes an appropriation of EUR 245.2 million for 2026. The draft budget appropriations cover the operating expenses of both the Prime Minister’s Office and those of the Office of the Chancellor of Justice, the salary expenses of ministers, state secretaries and special advisers, as well as subsidies to political parties, among other things.

These are the main objectives of the new state-owner’s sustainability programme, which identifies the sustainability themes most critical to the State's company portfolio and sets portfolio-level objectives and indicators for them.

21.11.2024 | On Thursday 21 November, the Government submitted its proposal to Parliament to amend the budget proposal for 2025. Some items in the proposal concern the Government's EUR 4 billion investment programme. The proposal will increase the revenue estimate by EUR 67 million and the requirement for appropriations by EUR 405 million.

13.6.2022 | Of all state-owned companies, 90 per cent have sustainability objectives in their remuneration programmes. According to a survey conducted by the Ownership Steering Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, corporate sustainability incentives account for about one quarter of the total remuneration paid by companies. The most common sustainability incentives were related to emissions reductions and job satisfaction among the personnel.

1.11.2023 | According to the study, the total number of private copying among 15-79-year-olds has decreased. Compared with 2015, the number of people making private copying has halved. Similar information was last gathered by Taloustutkimus in 2022.

18.10.2022 | The aim of this report dealing with data protection and the copyright infrastructure is to promote the development of the digital services provided by collective management organisations for copyright (CMOs). In order to use the ISNI identifier there was a need to clarify how and to what extent CMOs can supply personal data to the ISNI database and other copyright management organisations considering the impact of the General Data Protection Regulation.

10.11.2022 | The purpose of the pay security system is to ensure that employees receive their pay and other claims arising from an employment relationship in the event of the employer’s insolvency. From 2023, victims of serious work-based exploitation will have a longer period of time to apply for pay security. In addition, the reforms on pay security will streamline the pay security process and combat the shadow economy.

22.3.2021 | On 18 March 2021, Finnish Ambassador to Iraq Vesa Häkkinen opened an Honorary Consulate of Finland in Mosul together with Najm Al-Jubouri, Governor of the Nineveh Governorate. The Honorary Consulate of Finland is the first foreign honorary consulate in Mosul.

13.1.2021 | The 2020 study shows that the volume of annual private copying among people aged between 15 and 79 is approximately 258-276 million music and video files. This total number (258 million files) includes only the legal private copying as defined in the Copyright Act. In the 2019 survey, the corresponding estimate of private copying was 275–297 million files. Similar information was gathered by Taloustutkimus in 2019.

24.5.2021 | The Ministry of the Interior has submitted the draft equality and non-discrimination action plan for rescue services for statements. The aim of the action plan is rescue services that actively and systematically promote equality in the long term. The draft action plan will be out for comments from 24 May to 30 June 2021.

31.5.2021 | Assisting the Prime Minister in directing the Government, the Prime Minister’s Office is also in charge of the Prime Minister’s official residence and its maintenance and support services in accordance with the Government Act and the Government Rules of Procedure. The payment of and remuneration to members of the Government and the grounds for their allowances are established in the Act on Ministers’ Pay and Allowances.
