Prime Minister Juha Sipilä will attend the informal summit of the Heads of State or Government in Brussels on Tuesday 28 May. The EU leaders will meet over an informal dinner to discuss the outcome of the European Parliament elections and the nomination process for the heads of EU institutions. Discussion on the high-level nominations will continue at the European Council in June.

European Council President Donald Tusk has set as the target that the June European Council would reach an agreement in principle on the upcoming nominations to the EU institutions. The package includes the candidate for the President of the European Commission, as well as the President of the European Council, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and President of the European Central Bank.
