Prime Minister Sipilä and Maltese Prime Minister Muscat met in Kesäranta
Prime Minister Juha Sipilä and Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat met in Kesäranta on Wednesday 13 July. The meeting focused on EU issues and the premiers discussed, among other things, the aftermath of the United Kingdom’s EU referendum and the forthcoming Maltese EU Presidency during the first half of 2017. The premiers emphasised the promotion of cooperation among the 27 EU Member States.
"The promotion of growth, employment and competitiveness, reduction of regulation, and strengthening of the Union's internal and external security are the most important objectives on the EU's reform agenda," said Prime Minister Sipilä.
The meeting also touched on immigration, economic growth and the internal market, and key issues related to the EU common foreign and security policy.
"The bilateral relations between our countries are excellent and cooperation has increased, for example, in tourism and business sectors. Continuous development of the internal market is equally important to the Union's northern and southern Member State," said Sipilä.
