President and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discuss US-Finland Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA), Russia and situation at Finland’s eastern border
In their meeting on Monday 27 November, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between Finland and the United States and decided in favour of approving the outcome of the negotiations on the agreement. Parliament has been regularly informed of the progress of the negotiations in accordance with sections 47 and 97 of the Constitution. Parliament needs to authorise the agreement before it can be adopted.
The President and the Ministerial Committee also discussed the situation at Finland’s eastern border, issues related to Russia and Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, and held a preparatory discussion on the priorities for civilian and military intelligence in 2024.
