Prime Minister Orpo and South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to meet in Helsinki
Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will meet in Helsinki on Thursday 2 November. The prime ministers will discuss bilateral relations between their countries, strengthening cooperation and key international and regional issues.
South Korea is an important, like-minded partner with whom Finland wants to deepen relations. South Korea is Finland’s third-largest trading partner in Asia, and there is significant potential for increasing trade relations between the two countries. There are also great opportunities to develop relations when it comes to investments, science and technology.
“I am very pleased to be able to host my Korean colleague in Helsinki. Our countries enjoy very good relations at the commercial, cultural and political levels and we would like to see them deepen even further. Now more than ever, it is important for democracies that support the international rules-based system to work closely together and show leadership,” says Prime Minister Orpo.
This year marks 50 years since Finland and South Korea established diplomatic relations. The visit is partly related to closer cooperation taking place during the anniversary year. The Prime Minister of South Korea last visited Finland ten years ago, during the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries.
