World Health Organization WHO holds Global Conference on Health Promotion on 13–15 December
The World Health Organization (WHO) will hold the 10th Global Conference on Health Promotion virtually on 13–15 December. The theme of the Conference is wellbeing, with focus on links between health and wellbeing, the economy and the environment.
Finland is one of the partners supporting the Conference. The Finnish delegation to the Conference will be led by Markku Tervahauta, Director General of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. Tervahauta will represent Finland at a panel which discusses the economy of wellbeing and sustainable development.
Promotion of health is one of the cornerstones of Finland’s health policy and a long-term priority of global health policy. Finland considers it important to highlight the link between health and wellbeing. It also finds that the economy of wellbeing is built on the health promotion work that has been ongoing in all policy areas for several decades. WHO plays a central role in bringing up this perspective.
The Conference will issue a declaration on strengthening political support for the promotion of health and wellbeing. The previous Global Conference was organised in 2016.
