The REPowerEU call for applications in the Sustainable Growth Programme for Finland (Recovery and Resilience Plan) has been launched. The call will close on 29 February 2024. Businesses and organisations can apply for financial support for energy investments that promote the clean transition. The call for applications includes approximately EUR 54.5 million in investment aid for projects where the eligible costs exceed EUR 5 million.

The financing will be awarded to investment in the green transition, the fifth pillar added to the Sustainable Growth Programme for Finland. It will support Finland's 2035 carbon neutrality target by promoting the introduction of new clean technologies for energy production and use, and by expanding the development of hydrogen production and storage on a commercial scale.

Projects that may apply for financial aid include:

  • Renewable transport fuels (electrofuels and biofuels),
  • non-combustion-based heat generation,
  • other renewable energy projects, such as large-scale projects producing sustainable biogas (excluding distribution and transmission of biogas), large solar energy projects and projects promoting energy storage,
  • important hydrogen projects of common European interest (IPCEI),
  • other national hydrogen investments.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment intends to make the aid decisions in spring 2024. The projects that receive financial support must be completed by 30 June 2026.
