President and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discuss Finland’s participation in Red Sea operations, issues related to Russia and Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine

In their meeting on Friday 8 March, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed issues related to Russia, Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and Finland’s support to Ukraine.

The President and the Ministerial Committee also discussed Finland’s participation in international crisis management operations in the Red Sea. The President and the Ministerial Committee decided that Finland will participate in EUNAVFOR Operation ASPIDES with a maximum of five soldiers and in Operation Prosperity Guardian with a maximum of two soldiers. The soldiers will carry out staff duties.
