Press release 30/2023

On Thursday 23 February, the Government appointed Liisa Perttula as the new Director of Human Resources and Administration at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. Perttula will take up her duties on 1 March 2023.

Perttula has worked in the administration and human resources units and groups of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health since 1995, first as a senior specialist and since 2007 as a senior ministerial advisor. She has also served as the first deputy of the director of the unit. Perttula has served as the Head of the Administrative Services Group in fixed term appointments for about one-and-a-half years. Before being appointed as Director of Human Resources and Administration, she served in the position on a temporary basis. Perttula has also worked in human resources and general administration at the Ministry of the Environment in 1987–1995. Perttula holds a Master of Laws degree.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health carried out a small organisational reform at the turn of the year in which the former Administration Unit was closed and the Administrative Services Group, which operated under it, was formed into the Human Resources and Administration Unit. The Ministry established the post of Director of Human Resources and Administration in connection with this reform.

The Human Resources and Administration Unit of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health handles matters that concern:

  • general administration and human resources policy for the Ministry and its branch of government
  • the coordination of the Ministry’s personnel planning, personnel development and wellbeing at work
  • the Ministry’s terms and conditions of service, calculation of pay, and payment of taxable fees and compensation
  • secretarial services for the ministers
  • legal issues.

Altogether 22 candidates applied for the post.
