9.3.2026 | Close to half of wage-earners in workplaces that use artificial intelligence (AI) responded that AI has increased the efficiency of their work. Meanwhile, one third of them estimate that AI has improved the quality of their work.

The cornerstone of Finland’s economic success is international competitiveness, which is achieved through responsible, sustainable technology and investment in wellbeing at work.

21.10.2025 | The Prime Minister’s Office has awarded a total of EUR 240,000 in discretionary government grants for work to combat racism in 2025–2026. The grants were available to civil society organisations representing ethnic minorities and were intended to strengthen the organisations’ core activities and develop new ways to combat racism.

6.3.2026 | The 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will take place in New York from 9 to 19 March 2026. Finland will be represented at the session by a broad-based delegation led by Minister Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, who is responsible for gender equality issues.

18.3.2026 | Due to technological advances and the green transition, work is undergoing a major transformation, which underlines the importance of safeguarding workers’ rights. This will be among the topics addressed at the Council of Europe’s High-Level Conference on Social Rights in Chișinău, Moldova on 18–19 March 2026. State Secretary Mika Nykänen will attend the meeting on behalf of Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen.

11.12.2023 | A project at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) is working on a proposal for a well-being economy steering model for Finland that would strengthen wellbeing-oriented policymaking in Finland. A workshop, organized by THL and the OECD WISE Centre on 21–22 November 2023, brought together officials from pioneering countries to discuss the functionality and application of governance practices for a well-being framework.

16.9.2024 | A good working life is the cornerstone of society. Ensuring health and safety at work is an important prerequisite for a good working life. The policy for the work environment and wellbeing at work until 2030 entitled ‘Safe and healthy working conditions and work ability for everyone’ defines the objectives and priorities concerning health and safety at work in Finland.

25.2.2025 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health have launched a national project on the Working Life Development Strategy with the aim of increasing labour productivity and improving wellbeing at work.

15.5.2025 | According to the Working Life Barometer, wage-earners often experience time pressure and interruptions in their work. On the other hand, the atmosphere at workplaces has improved. While learning new things is still supported at workplaces, the amount of training offered by employers has decreased clearly in recent years.

18.4.2024 | According to the Working Life Barometer, nearly three quarters of employees considered their possibilities to reconcile work and other life good in 2023. On the other hand, there is plenty of room for improvement in competence development at workplaces.

9.3.2026 | EU ministers will convene for a meeting of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council in Brussels on 9 March. Minister of Social Affairs and Health Wille Rydman will represent Finland at the meeting.

20.4.2023 | The Mental Health at Work Programme, which was implemented in cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders, strengthened the competence and capabilities of workplaces to build a working culture that supports mental wellbeing. According to the assessment, the experiences acquired by different organisations during the Programme show that the development work carried out have high potential for making a large-scale impact in the years to come.

The level of stress or work exhaustion experienced also did not change significantly from 2019. However, there were clear differences between groups.
