EU Foreign Affairs Council to discuss Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, EU-US relations, situation in the Middle East, and Iran
EU foreign ministers will convene in Brussels on 17 March. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will represent Finland at the meeting.

EU foreign ministers will continue their discussion on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, focusing on the EU’s support to Ukraine to secure a just and lasting peace.
“The EU must step up its support so that Ukraine will be able to negotiate from as powerful a position as possible. This is about the security of the whole of Europe. We should emphasise swift support to Ukraine and speed up the implementation of the aid commitments already made,” Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen says.
The Foreign Affairs Council will also hold an exchange of views on relations between the EU and the United States from the foreign and security policy perspective.
“We will exchange information on the latest contacts with the US administration and discuss how to best promote the EU’s goals for European security and responding to Russia’s long-term threat,” Minister Valtonen says.
In addition, the ministers will discuss the situation in the Middle East and exchange views on Iran.
