Finland to host the Small Advanced Economies Initiative in Helsinki

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs, The Prime Minister’s Office, The Ministry for Education, Science and Culture, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will host the Small Advanced Economies Initiative’s annual Principals Meeting in Helsinki 5-6 November 2024.

The Small Advanced Economies Initiative is a collaboration between Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, Singapore and Switzerland. Through the initiative, the countries are working together on science and innovation, economics, and foreign affairs and trade issues.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Strengthening Competitiveness and Partnerships in the Changing Geopolitical Landscape”. The discussions will delve into how small advanced economies can navigate the intensifying geoeconomic competition, build sustainable competitiveness by harnessing the knowledge base and value chains of tomorrow, as well as strengthen their strategic partnerships.

The programme will include meetings with representatives from the world of politics, business and academia. Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen will also address the gathering.
