Foreign Minister Valtonen to attend meeting on EU enlargement in Berlin
Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit Berlin on 2 November 2023 to attend a high-level meeting on EU enlargement and to discuss ways to develop energy cooperation.
The high-level meeting, organised by Germany, will convene foreign ministers from EU Member States and candidate countries. Topics on the meeting agenda include preparations for the next enlargement and the future global position of an enlarged European Union.
“Enlargement is a key way to promote European stability and prosperity in the current geopolitical situation. Our goal is that an enlarged European Union will be a stronger player globally,” Foreign Minister Valtonen says.
In Berlin, Minister Valtonen will also meet representatives of Finnish and German companies to discuss cooperation in the energy sector to develop hydrogen economy.
“Germany is an important partner for Finland, and by meeting with companies we aim to promote cooperation between hydrogen clusters in our countries,” Valtonen says.
