Foreign Minister Valtonen to visit China
Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit China on 29–30 October as part of the delegation accompanying President of the Republic Alexander Stubb on his state visit. Minister Valtonen will travel to Beijing and Shanghai.
In Beijing, Minister Valtonen will meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The ministers’ discussions will focus on bilateral relations between Finland and China, topical regional and global issues and Finland’s forthcoming chairpersonship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Minister Valtonen will also have other bilateral meetings in Beijing.
From Beijing, Foreign Minister Valtonen will continue to Shanghai, where she will meet with the Director of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS).
“China is a significant player in many global and regional issues. It is important to discuss not only bilateral China–Finland relations but also topical issues that affect security in Europe and Finland,” Minister Valtonen says.
