Foreign Minister Valtonen to visit German state of Bavaria
On 7-8 January 2026, Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit the German state of Bavaria, where she will attend a meeting of the parliamentary group of the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU) in Seeon Abbey. She will also meet representatives of Finnish and German companies in Munich.
Minister Elina Valtonen will attend the meeting of the CSU parliamentary group as one of the invited guests and deliver the opening address for its international session. She will also have bilateral meetings with Bavaria’s political leaders, including Minister-President of Bavaria Markus Söder and CSU ministers of the Federal Government of Germany.
In Munich, Minister Valtonen will join a round table discussion on digitalisation and resilience with Finnish and German businesses. Bavaria’s Minister for Digital Affairs Fabian Mehring will attend the event. Minister Valtonen will also meet the German media during her visit.
“We have strong relations with Germany, and cooperation directly with the states is of great importance. I am pleased to be able to intensify both our political and economic relations with Bavaria, one of the most significant states in Germany,” Minister Valtonen says.
