Press release

Finland donates a Hawk Mk51 training fighter jet to the Swiss Aviation Museum. As from the end of 2016 this type of aircraft has no longer been in use in Finland.

Switzerland had requested that Finland donate one Hawk training fighter jet to the museum. The request was based on the Hawk training fighter deal between Switzerland and Finland in 2007, where Finland bought 18 used Hawk Mk 65 training fighter jets. After the deal Switzerland had no Hawk training fighter jets for the museum.

The fighter jets bought from Switzerland are still in active use, which is why Finland donates an older model, Hawk Mk51, to the museum. A total of 42 of these have been used by the Finnish Air Force.

The donation will further promote the good bilateral relations between Finland and Switzerland.
