Authorised by Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen, the Finnish Defence Forces has signed a framework agreement on military optronics with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration and the Finnish company Senop Oy.

The framework agreement was signed in Helsinki on 6 November 2024 by Brigadier General Tero Ylitalo, Chief of the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command, Rebecca Ihrfors, Director at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and Aki Korhonen, CEO of Senop Oy.

A similar framework agreement was signed with the Swedish company Aimpoint AB in August 2024 based on the same decision by the Minister of Defence that authorised the signing of the agreement with Senop Oy.

From Aimpoint AB, the Finnish Defence Forces will procure red-dot sights that are widely used on the Defence Forces' assault rifles. The joint framework agreement with Sweden will make it possible to get more red-dot sights quickly, if necessary.

Based on an earlier letter of intent signed with Senop Oy, Finland will procure image intensifiers and night sights through the framework agreement now signed.

The joint procurement of military optronics is based on an implementation agreement signed between Finland and Sweden in Tampere on 17 April 2024. With the joint procurement, Finland and Sweden aim to strengthen their mutual security of supply in the field of military optronics and gain cost benefits.
