Lulu Ranne to serve as Minister of Transport, Communications and the Interior
The President of the Republic has released Mari Rantanen from her duties as Minister of the Interior and her membership in the Government at her request. In the same session, the President of the Republic designated Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne to assume the Minister of the Interior’s duties and appointed her Minister of Transport, Communications and the Interior.
The change took place at the presidential session on Friday 30 August. Mari Rantanen will return to her post as Minister of the Interior later in the government term.
Following the presidential session, the an extraordinary government plenary session made decisions on changes to the ministerial portfolios, deputising arrangements and the composition of ministerial committees and working groups.
In addition, the Government appointed Antti Salminen State Secretary to Minister Ranne and assigned him to serve at the Ministry of the Interior. The Government also appointed Marjo Lindgren State Secretary to Minister Ranne and Minister of Social Affairs and Health Kaisa Juuso and assigned her to serve at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The term of the state secretaries is linked to that of the ministers.
