Minister Anders Adlercreutz, who is responsible for Nordic cooperation, will visit Greenland from 15 to 17 February. The visit is related to Finland’s Presidency of the Nordic Council, and Minister Adlercreutz will be accompanied by the Nordic Council President, MP Ville Väyrynen. From Greenland, the Minister will travel to Copenhagen to attend a meeting of the ministers for Nordic cooperation on 18 February.

In Greenland, Minister Anders Adlercreutz will meet, among others, representatives of the Greenlandic Government and Parliament and visit educational institutions and the Danish Defence Forces’ Arctic Command, which is responsible for monitoring the area around Greenland and the Faroe Islands and for maritime rescue, among other duties. The Minister’s programme also includes a visit to the Nordic Institute in Greenland (NAPA), a cultural institution in Nuuk operating under the Nordic Council of Ministers.

“Finland highlights the importance of Greenland’s participation in Nordic cooperation and values its contribution. I am pleased to have an opportunity to learn about local actors such as NAPA, which plays a key role in presenting culture, creative industries and Arctic cooperation,” Minister Adlercreutz says.

On his way back, Minister Adlercreutz will visit Copenhagen and attend a meeting of the ministers for Nordic cooperation, hosted by Denmark and the Faroe Islands, which hold the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2026. The meeting agenda includes the possible update of the Treaty of Co-operation between the Nordic countries, known as the Helsinki Treaty. A legal study on the matter was conducted by a working group led by Professor Elina Pirjatanniemi from Åbo Akademi University. The study was completed at the beginning of February.
