Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen signed a Letter of Intent between Slovenia and Finland on support for the procurement of 8 x 8 Armoured Modular Vehicles on Thursday 13th February 2025 in Brussels. On the Slovenian side the Letter of Intent was signed by Minister of Defence Borut Sajovic.

"Finland plays an important role in Slovenia's future trade. Finland has developed Armoured Vehicle products and their operation both in the Defence Forces and in industry, and this expertise is provided by the defence administration to Slovenia as part of their future vehicle trade from Patria. Vehicle expertise in Finland is among the best in the world," says Minister of Defence Häkkänen.

With the 8X8 AMV Letter of Intent, the participating nations state their shared willingness to cooperate, and that Slovenia will receive Finland's support for the procurement of 8 x 8 Armoured Vehicles from Patria Land Oy.

"Based on recent vehicle trades that have already been completed, it is excellent to note that the export promotion measures of the Ministry of Defence have been effective and the model for government to government for trade created by the Ministry of Defence has been very purpose-built. The establishment of government to government trade is the result of many years of trust building and smooth cooperation between all parties involved," says Minister of Defence Häkkänen.

The letter of intent between the Ministry of Defence of Slovenia and the Ministry of Defence of Finland was prepared jointly by the ministries and signed by the Defence ministers. The letter of intent is not legally binding.
