Minister Tavio to visit Germany
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will visit Hamburg on 29 and 30 June to speak at the Hamburg Sustainability Conference. The visit will also include a business programme aimed at strengthening commercial and economic ties between Finland and Germany, in particular in the Hamburg region.
At the Hamburg Sustainability Conference, Minister Ville Tavio will deliver an opening address in a panel on clean hydrogen and technological innovation. The conference brings together representatives of governments, international organisations and the private sector. During the conference, the Minister will have several bilateral meetings.
“We need more investment, business activity and trade to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We must increasingly replace aid dependency with partnerships that help developing countries build their own industries and create jobs,” Minister Tavio says.
In addition to the conference, Minister Tavio’s visit includes an export promotion programme. Ten Finnish companies from the defence and resilience sectors and from energy infrastructure will take part in the programme. During his visit, Minister Tavio will also meet Peter Tschentscher, First Mayor and President of the Senate of the city-state of Hamburg.
“For Finland, Germany is a key ally and trading partner. Finland can offer the Hamburg region high-level expertise, for example in clean energy solutions. Our specialist capabilities in the defence sector and in resilience also meet current needs in Germany,” Minister Tavio notes.
