Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Tytti Tuppurainen and Slovenian State Secretary for European Affairs Marko Štucin will meet in Helsinki on Thursday 8 December.

Their meeting will focus on topical EU matters and the security situation in Europe. Topics on the agenda include support for Ukraine as it defends itself against Russia’s illegal war of aggression, EU integration of the Western Balkans, means to secure access to energy in Europe and questions related to the rule of law.

Minister Tuppurainen and State Secretary Štucin are colleagues on the EU General Affairs Council (GAC), whose tasks include preparations for the European Council meetings. The GAC is also responsible for a number of cross-cutting policy areas, including negotiations on the multiannual financial framework and EU enlargement. Matters related to the rule of law are also an established part of the GAC’s agenda.
