The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has concluded the cooperation negotiations it initiated at the Service Centre for Entry Permits in Kouvola in October 2022. As a result, 17 public-service employment relationships will be terminated on a voluntary basis.
The negotiations concerned the officials who process visa applications at the centre. The grounds for the negotiations were production-related. The number of visa applications received by Finland has been decreasing for a longer period due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has continued to decline significantly since the Government adopted its resolution restricting tourism from Russia to Finland on 29 September 2022.
