On 12 April 2016, the Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy adopted a strategy to tackle the shadow economy and economic crime. The Committee also decided to appoint a parliamentary group for the monitoring of the strategy's implementation. Each parliamentary group was requested to assign a representative to the monitoring group.

In addition to the appointment of the monitoring group, the Government issued a government resolution on the national strategy to tackle the shadow economy and economic crime 2016–2020, based on the strategy adopted by the Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy in April.

The strategy to tackle the shadow economy and economic crime aims to prevent and reduce the shadow economy and economic crime in business. The purpose is to promote projects that improve companies' opportunities for healthy competition and facilitate the handling of public obligations. The strategy's objectives will be specified in an action programme to be drawn up later.
