Prime Minister Ansip to Finland

The Prime Minister of Estonia, Andrus Ansip, will visit Finland on 19 November on the invitation of Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen. The prime ministers will discuss the EU's multiannual financial framework and other key EU issues such as the economic situation in Europe and development of EMU, and energy issues. They will also discuss bilateral issues including the economic situation in Finland and Estonia.

The prime ministers will also chair a joint meeting of the Finnish Research and Innovation Council and the Estonian Research and Development Council. The meeting will focus on research and development infrastructures and growth entrepreneurship. The Finnish Government will be represented by the Council Vice-Chairpersons, Minister of Education Jukka Gustafsson and Minister of Economic Affairs Jan Vapaavuori, and Minister of the Environment Ville Niinistö. Estonian representatives will include Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts and Minister of Education and Research Jaak Aaviksoo. This is the third joint meeting of the Councils, the earlier meetings having taken place in 2004 and 2008.
