Prime Minister Katainen to meeting of Nordic prime ministers
On 10–11 June, Prime Minister Katainen will attend the annual summer meeting of the Nordic prime ministers in the Lofoten Islands, Norway. The meeting makes part of the Norwegian chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers. As is customary, the prime ministers' partners have also received an invitation to the meeting.
The prime ministers' discussions will focus on the European economic crisis, Rio+20, United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, to be held on 20–22 June, the future of Nordic cooperation, challenges faced by welfare societies, the opportunities and challenges of the Nordic regions, and key international issues.
The meeting will take place on a ship sailing the Hurtigruten route to Tromsø. Hurtigruten, the more than 2,000 kilometres long sea route, connects coastal communities in Norway and provides, even today, an important means of carrying goods and passengers between them.
