Prime Minister Orpo to attend EU-GCC summit and European Council in Brussels
Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at two meetings in Brussels: the EU and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit on Wednesday 16 October and the European Council beginning on Thursday 17 October.
The main topics of the October European Council will be Ukraine, the Middle East, support for the rules-based international order, competitiveness and migration.
The EU-GCC summit will be the first of its kind. Its purpose is to affirm the countries’ common will to deepen cooperation in a variety of areas, such as trade and investment, energy, climate and the clean transition, as well as security. The summit will also address regional and international conflicts, with a particular focus on Ukraine and the Middle East.
The Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs will outline Finland’s objectives for the meetings on Wednesday 16 October.
