Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at the fifth Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdánsk in Poland on 25 June. He will also attend the second Eastern Flank Summit held in Gdánsk on the same day.

As in previous years, the Ukraine Recovery Conference will bring together leaders and ministers from countries that support Ukraine, along with representatives of international organisations, financial institutions, businesses, regions, municipalities and civil society. The aim is to strengthen and coordinate support for Ukraine for as long as needed.

“Finland and Ukraine have been working together for a long time in areas such as defence, education, the rule of law, energy and the environment. Our cooperation is also a way to support Ukraine on its path to EU membership. It is great that the negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU were finally officially opened last week,” said Prime Minister Orpo.

“We must not forget that the main objective of all the support we are giving to Ukraine is to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. And, after that, a prosperous and successful society,” Orpo said.

The recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine is also a great opportunity for Finnish companies. Nearly twenty Finnish companies and representatives of the business community will be attending the conference in Gdánsk.

The second Eastern Flank Summit will focus on improving Europe’s security and defence capabilities especially at the EU’s eastern border.

“It is important to continue discussions in this composition. The Eastern Flank countries are working together more than before. The Eastern Flank Watch initiative launched in Helsinki last December is making good progress. Recent drone incidents highlight the importance of our efforts to accelerate the process of strengthening Europe’s defence and security on the eastern flank, the bulwark of Europe,” Prime Minister Orpo said.

The first Eastern Flank Summit was held in Helsinki in December 2025 at the invitation of Prime Minister Orpo.
