Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Juraj Blanár will visit Helsinki on 20 May and meet Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár will discuss current bilateral affairs between Finland and Slovakia as well as foreign and security policy matters.

The main topics will be Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, support for Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, transatlantic relations and European security.

“It is valuable that we can meet and have an open discussion on topical international issues at a time when the EU’s unity is of paramount importance. We also see opportunities to deepen cooperation between our countries, especially when it comes to economic and trade relations,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen.

While in Helsinki, Minister Blanár will also meet with Johannes Koskinen, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, and visit the Merihaka civil defence shelter. During his visit to Finland, Minister Blanár will also attend the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Slovakia in Tampere on 21 May.
