Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s roundtable strengthens dialogue on equality in working life

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and representatives of key immigrant organisations, human rights organisations, municipalities, businesses and labour market organisations met on 18 March to discuss concrete measures to ensure equality in a diversifying Finland.

The main theme of the event was working life, and discussions focused strongly on the future. The topic of equality was approached from the perspectives of access to work, everyday life in the workplace and work-life balance.

The Ministry of the Interior has sent a draft act on temporary measures to combat instrumentalised migration out for comments.

Foreign Ministry suspends reception of berry pickers’ visa applications in Thailand

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has decided to suspend the reception of wild-berry pickers’ visa applications in Thailand. The suspension applies to all applicants in countries within the consular district of the Embassy of Finland in Bangkok: Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar. This means that Schengen visas will not be issued to wild-berry pickers from these countries for the summer 2024 harvest season.

Finland and the United States intensify their cooperation on cybersecurity
