Project status

Goals and results

The implementation of the Directive requires completely new regulation on platform work and possibly amendments to existing labour and other legislation. A tripartite working group will be appointed to prepare the amendments. in addition to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and employer and employee organisations, the ministries responsible for occupational safety and health, the protection of personal data and social security issues will be represented. As a rule, the working group will focus on labour law issues required for the implementation of the Directive.

Starting points

Directive (EU) 2024/2831 of the European Parliament and of the Council on improving working conditions and working conditions in platform work was adopted on 23.10.2024. The deadline for the implementation of the Directive is 2.12.2026.

The purpose of the Directive is to improve terms of employment and working conditions and the protection of personal data in platform work:
- the introduction of measures to facilitate the determination of the correct professional status of platform workers;
- promoting transparency, fairness, human control, safety and accountability in the algorithmic management of platform work; and
- by improving the transparency of platform work, also in cross-border situations.

The Directive contains provisions on determining the professional status of platform workers, algorithmic management and increasing the transparency of platform work. In addition, the Directive contains provisions on legal remedies for platform workers.
