15.5.2026 | Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto will visit the Republic of Korea on 17–19 May and Japan on 19–22 May 2026. The topics on the agenda will include economic security and critical and emerging technologies. In Japan, Puisto will be accompanied by a business delegation from Finland’s quantum sector and other key high technology companies.

15.4.2026 | Riikka Pellinen, PhD., has been appointed as an expert in higher education and science policy at the Embassy of Finland in Seoul. Her three-year term begins on 1 August 2026. With this appointment, the Team Finland Knowledge network’s geographical scope is extended to South Korea.

22.11.2024 | Pressures to reach an understanding will be mounting when the representatives of the UN Member States convene in Busan, Republic of Korea, on 25 November–1 December for the last scheduled negotiations on the Global Plastics Treaty. Finland’s Chief Negotiator Tuulia Toikka from the Ministry of the Environment expects that the negotiations will be challenging.

10.6.2019 | President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in and his spouse Kim Jung-sook are currently on a state visit to Finland. The visit will be hosted by President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö and Mrs Jenni Haukio. Topics discussed during the state visit of President Jae-in on 9–11 June 2019 include trade issues, therefore the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is the key discussion partner and co-signatory of many of the Memorandums of Understanding (MoU).

The least developed countries and the poorest people suffer the most from the impacts of climate change even though they contribute to it the least.

20.5.2021 | On 20 May, the Government decided to extend the restrictions on entry into the country until 15 June 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, and we do not yet have adequate measures available to replace the restrictions. For this reason, and to curb the spread of COVID-19 variants, both internal border controls and restrictions on external border traffic will continue. Minor amendments will be made to the decisions adopted on 22 April. These will enter into force on 24 May.
