11.4.2024 | The Government has decided to introduce maximum income limits to the selection of residents to state-subsidised rental housing (rental housing of the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland Ara). The income limits will be applied both to the selection of new residents and to moving to another apartment. No income limits will be applied to rental housing intended for special groups. 11.6.2025 | The Ministry of the Interior has issued a new decree on smoke alarms. The decree lays down provisions on the minimum number of smoke alarms, as is the case at present. In addition, the decree specifies how smoke alarms must be placed. The aim is to clarify the regulation on smoke alarms and to make it easier to comply with the regulation. The decree was drafted to correspond to the amendments made to the Rescue Act. 3.2.2023 | More than 45,000 people who fled Ukraine last year may be eligible for a municipality of residence in 2023 after residing in Finland for one year, with about 13,000 already satisfying the qualifying period of residence in March–April.
