  6. 23.4.2026 | The EU–Mercosur trade agreement will be applied provisionally from 1 May 2026. Tariff reductions under the agreement will take effect gradually, and tariffs on certain products will be eliminated as of day one. For most products, tariffs will be eliminated over a transition period, the first stage of reductions taking place at the beginning of May.

  7. 18.4.2024 | On 18 April, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal for introducing a new border procedure. The Aliens Act will be amended in line with the EU Asylum Procedures Directive to introduce the new border procedure in Finland. The purpose of the border procedure is to enhance the examination of unfounded applications and the return of applicants whose application has been rejected. In addition, this will prevent secondary movements of asylum seekers to other EU countries.

  10. 16.4.2026 | The EU Pact on Migration and Asylum establishes a common EU system to strengthen external border control, ensure effective identification of third-country nationals and enhance procedures for asylum and return. The case concerned whether an unreasoned arbitral award issued in arbitration proceedings violated the applicant company’s right to a fair trial as guaranteed in Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Court unanimously held that Article 6 had not been violated.
