The Aliens Act will be amended in line with the EU Asylum Procedures Directive to introduce the new border procedure in Finland. In addition, this will prevent secondary movements of asylum seekers to other EU countries.

    9.6.2026 | On 9 June 2026, the European Court of Human Rights delivered its judgment concerning Finland in a case about the right to a fair trial. The case concerned whether an unreasoned arbitral award issued in arbitration proceedings violated the applicant company’s right to a fair trial as guaranteed in Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Court unanimously held that Article 6 had not been violated.
