  5. 10.3.2026 | The Research and Innovation Council has launched a stakeholder survey on the implementation of the national strategic choices for RDI policy and activities. The survey will be open until Wednesday 29 April 2026. The main target group for the survey consists of key organisations for implementing the choices and putting them to use, including public and private RDI financiers, research organisations, businesses and branches of government, regional actors and other stakeholders.

  6. 12.2.2026 | Finland is well on the path towards achieving the nationally set target for research and development (R&D) activities, but the coming years will be highly challenging. This is the conclusion of the Monitoring and Evaluation Report on Government R&D Funding. The report also shows that global competition in innovation keeps getting stronger. In international comparison there is nothing exceptional about Finland’s R&D investments, but they are an absolute necessity to succeed in global competition.

  9. 18.12.2025 | The international results of the OECD Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2024 were published earlier this autumn. They have now been supplemented with Finland’s national results. Finland participated in the main TALIS 2024, which focused on lower secondary school teachers and principals, and in the TALIS Starting Strong module, which targeted staff in early childhood education and care and pre-primary education.

The aim of the new assessment procedures is to produce an up-to-date overall picture of the situation with regard to the allocation, outcomes and impact of R&D funding for use by decision-makers and actors in the RDI system.

  12. 4.12.2025 | The Truth and Reconciliation Commission will submit its final report to the Government, the Sámi Parliament and the Skolt Sámi Siida Council on 4 December 2025. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission held consultations with almost 400 Sámi people and commissioned 25 separate studies by various experts.
