Liisa Räsänen appointed Director General of State Treasury

The Government has appointed Liisa Räsänen, Master of Social Sciences, as Director General of the State Treasury. Räsänen is currently working as a director in the State Treasury.

“I am excited to be appointed Director General of the State Treasury and continue working on behalf of Finnish society and the State Treasury's customers. The difficult circumstances we are currently in highlight the key role that the State Treasury plays as a reliable administrator of government finances and compensation services and as a partner in administrative development. I am grateful that my new role will allow me to continue working with the State Treasury’s skilled and committed experts, stakeholders and partners,” Räsänen said.

Räsänen also holds a Master of Arts in European Economic Studies and an Executive Master of Business Administration. Räsänen is currently working as a director in the State Treasury. Previously, Räsänen has worked as a director in the Finnish Patent and Registration Office and in numerous positions in the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority. 

The appointment was decided by the Government on 15 February. Räsänen has been appointed to the post for a fixed period from 23 February 2024 to 22 February 2029.

The State Treasury is an agency operating under the Ministry of Finance. It provides services for government relating to finances, human resources and knowledge-based management. It is also in charge of government borrowing and debt and cash management and manages government accounting and accident compensation. The State Treasury also disburses compensation payments to citizens for military injuries and criminal damage and administers loans, interest subsidies and government guarantees.
