Olli-Pekka Rantala appointed as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for a fixed term
Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne has appointed Olli-Pekka Rantala, Director General of the Ministerial Governance Department, as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for a fixed term starting on 1 November 2025.
Rantala will perform the duties of the Permanent Secretary until 15 April 2026 or until the post is filled through an application procedure. The Ministry of Transport and Communications is currently inviting applications for the post of Permanent Secretary, which will be filled for a fixed term of five years. The deadline for applications is 6 November 2025 at 12.00. The current Permanent Secretary Minna Kivimäki will transfer to the post of Director General of the Government EU Affairs Department at the Prime Minister's Office as of 1 November 2025.
Miikka Rainiala, Director of Strategy and Coordination Unit, has been appointed to serve as Director General of the Ministerial Governance Department for the period when Director General Rantala serves as Permanent Secretary.
Senior Ministerial Adviser Matleena Kurki-Suutarinen, in turn, has been appointed as Director of Strategy and Coordination Unit for the period for which Director Rainiala serves as Director General.
