Kauppapolitiikka: Under the golden stars
The latest issue of the Kauppapolitiikka trade policy magazine looks at how elections influence important trade policy decisions in both the EU and the United States.
In its first issue of 2024, the magazine looks ahead to the time after the European elections. One big decision is the EU’s position on State aid, which affects the competitiveness of undertakings, states and the entire European Union. The interest among Finns in applying for posts in the EU has also waned. Will Finland still be able to make its voice heard in the EU in the future?
The interview section features Minister Jaakko Iloniemi, the grand old man of Finnish politics. He takes a long-term perspective to world events and reminds us that good things, not only bad ones, are happening in the world even today.
We look at the upcoming presidential election in the United States and discuss how the election is already impacting the country's trade policy. We also analyse the long-term downward trend in exports and the reasons why Finland has fallen behind. The latest issue also writes about climate markets.
