The Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will focus on the promotion of sustainable and inclusive growth and the strengthening of the OECD’s international role. The meeting will take place in Paris on 2–3 May. Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will represent Finland at the meeting.

On the first day of the meeting, the ministers will discuss evidence-based policy making for promoting a sustainable and inclusive economy and for supporting a rules-based trade and economic system.

On the second day, the meeting will discuss the OECD’s relations with countries outside the organisation, strengthening partnerships with other international organisations and global coordination to promote sustainable development and resolve climate and environmental crises. Other topics on the agenda will include economic resilience, data flows and emerging technologies, particularly AI. The meeting will be chaired by Japan, which is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its accession to the OECD.

“Finland values the OECD’s studies for the development of the economy and society. Within the OECD, we are also able to work with like-minded countries to develop international standards for promoting matters such as a level playing field for businesses,” says Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio.
