8.5.2026 | The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has awarded a total of EUR 1,890,000 in discretionary government grants to 15 civil society organisations (CSOs) and communities.

22.1.2026 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will visit Beijing, China, on 25–28 January. On Tuesday 27 January, Prime Minister Orpo will meet with President of China Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang, who is hosting the official visit, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji. The purpose of the visit is to continue dialogue with the Chinese leadership and to promote business opportunities for Finland in China.

9.1.2025 | Minister of Employment Arto Satonen will travel to Vietnam and the Philippines from 11 to 18 January 2025. The purpose of the visit is to create a cooperation model between Finland and the countries to promote international recruitment.

16.1.2026 | The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will take place in Davos, Switzerland, on 19–23 January. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will attend the meeting.

7.11.2025 | Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will visit Belém, Brazil, on 10–11 November. Minister Tavio will attend events held in connection with the Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the UN Convention on Climate Change and meet ministers and business representatives from different countries.

28.6.2024 | On 27 June 2024, Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio appointed Elina Björklund (M.Sc., Economics), Chairperson of the Board of Reima Group, to serve as the rapporteur preparing the reform of the Team Finland network of business services abroad to integrate the foreign functions of Business Finland with the Foreign Service.

15.4.2024 | The 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) took place in New York between 11 and 22 March. The theme of the session was ‘Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective’.

15.1.2025 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo cultivated political and economic relations between Finland and the United Arab Emirates during a working visit on 13–15 January. The programme for his visit included meetings with the President and Prime Minister of the UAE and with several ministers. His visit also coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and the UAE. Prime Minister Orpo was accompanied on the visit by a business delegation put together by Business Finland.

19.12.2024 | Finland is preparing a country pavilion for the next UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Belém, Brazil, from 10 to 21 November 2025. The Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs support the preparation of the pavilion in cooperation with companies, municipalities, universities and non-governmental organisations.

31.5.2022 | Minister of Employment Tuula Haatainen will visit Berlin from 31 May to 2 June. The visit will focus on employment services, their transfer to the local level and the ways to attract international workforce. During the trip, Haatainen will meet Germany’s Minister of Labour and Social Affairs as well as members of Parliament’s Committee on Labour and Social Affairs.

8.12.2022 | On her Team Finland visit, Minister of Employment Tuula Haatainen will meet key authorities and companies promoting immigration of labour. A Declaration of Intent between India and Finland aimed at sustainably promoting immigration of labour will be signed on the visit. A broad delegation of companies and public administration representatives promoting immigration of skilled labour will accompany Minister Haatainen on the visit.

10.1.2025 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will visit the United Arab Emirates on 13–15 January. The United Arab Emirates is a significant geopolitical player in the Gulf region. In addition to economic relations, the visit aims to promote political dialogue between the two countries. This year marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates and Finland.

24.1.2023 | The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism aims to prevent carbon leakage, where greenhouse gas emissions are transferred to countries outside the Union through production, and at the same time to encourage non-EU manufacturers to reduce their emissions. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has appointed a working group to prepare the implementation of the mechanism in Finland.

24.6.2024 | Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman will visit China on 25–28 June 2024. The main purpose of the visit is to promote Finnish companies that are engaged in business and cooperation in China. Rydman will meet the Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, among others.

26.4.2021 | The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Finnish Development NGOs Fingo and Finnish chambers of commerce held a new kind of series of live broadcasts, entitled Partners in Development, in March and April. The series comprised seven events, in which various bodies from different parts of Finland presented their contribution to development cooperation.

4.9.2023 | The Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Finland Chamber of Commerce will organise an event on Monday 11 September 2023 where Trademark Africa will present its activities and the business opportunities available for Finnish companies.

8.3.2024 | Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Anders Adlercreutz will travel to Stockholm on Monday 11 March. During the visit, Minister Adlercreutz will meet with Swedish Minister for EU Affairs Jessika Roswall and take part in several other high-level meetings.
