1.6.2026 | The 2026 National Cyber Security Exercise for state administration organizations was held from 25 to 29 May. In the exercise, the aim was to influence citizen services through cyber-attacks using real-world threat actor tactics and techniques.

21.5.2026 | On 21 May 2026, the Government adopted a national plan on the resilience of critical entities (the CER strategy). The plan’s objective is to enhance the resilience of critical entities. Cooperation between critical entities and authorities will enhance resilience and harmonise it at both EU and national level.

21.5.2026 | Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne will visit Stockholm on 22 May 2026. She will meet Swedish colleagues and attend a seminar on Nordic cooperation and the role of transport infrastructure in improving preparedness and competitiveness.

21.4.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications requested comments on a draft government proposal for an act on location information for underground network infrastructure. The consultation period ran from 29 January to 12 March 2026. On 21 April 2026, the Ministry published a summary of the 58 comments received.

16.4.2026 | Finland has joined the Pax Silica initiative that aims to secure supply chains for semiconductors, critical minerals and artificial intelligence infrastructure. The declaration was signed on behalf of Finland by Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto in Washington on 16 April 2026.

23.4.2026 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s Government has agreed on the General Government Fiscal Plan for 2027–2030. The Government has agreed on significant transport investments across Finland. 

13.5.2026 | Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will visit Lithuania on 13–15 May 2026 as a member of the official delegation accompanying President of the Republic Alexander Stubb on his state visit. Minister Tavio will also attend the programme for the business delegation.

26.4.2026 | On 26 April 2026, Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala visited Ukraine to attend memorials commemorating the Chornobyl nuclear power plant accident 40 years ago and to participate in a high-level meeting on improving the plant safety. She also took part in a G7+ meeting in Kyiv to discuss support for Ukraine for the winter of 2026–2027 amid Russia’s continuing attacks on energy and civilian targets.

16.4.2026 | Ministers responsible for internal security and preparedness (or their deputies) from Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden will meet in Helsinki on 16 April to discuss how the EU can prepare for security threats and various crises. Sauli Niinistö, former President of Finland, and Hadja Lahbib, the EU Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management, will deliver the opening addresses.

12.6.2025 | The Finnish Government proposes that the President of the Republic approve the Act on the Protection of Infrastructure Critical to Society and on the Improvement of Resilience on 13 June. In accordance with the Government Programme, the act will strengthen national security and the resilience of our society. The act is scheduled to enter into force on 1 July 2025.
