  2. State Secretary Nykänen heads to Paris for ministerial meeting exploring how to boost nuclear power construction - Finnish Government

    18.9.2025 | The OECD’s Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and the Government of South Korea will organise a ministerial meeting in Paris on 18–19 September 2025. The Roadmaps to New Nuclear meeting aims to strengthen cooperation between governments and industry to boost the role of nuclear power in providing clean energy and securing energy supply.   3. Legislative amendment to boost clean energy investments and develop electricity grids approved - Finnish Government

    23.10.2025 | The amendment to the Electricity Market Act will promote the integration of the increasing electricity generation and growing consumption loads into the main grid and high-voltage distribution network.   18. Fortum granted licence to operate Loviisa power plant units until end of 2050 - Finnish Government

    16.2.2023 | On 16 February 2023, the Government granted an operating licence to Fortum Power and Heat Oy (Fortum) for nuclear power plants units Loviisa 1 (LO1) and Loviisa 2 (LO2), in accordance with the Nuclear Energy Act. The new operating licence allows energy production at the nuclear power plant units until the end of 2050. The current operating licences for Loviisa expire on 31 December 2027 (LO1) and 31 December 2030 (LO2).
