27.8.2026 | On 27 August 2026, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal to supplement the national implementation of the EU framework Regulation on non-road mobile machinery and the Euro 7 Regulation. The Regulations are related to vehicle approval, market surveillance and environmental requirements. 29.12.2022 | On 29 December 2022, the Government granted research permits for offshore wind projects in four open sea areas in Finland’s exclusive economic zone. The permits were granted to Ilmatar Energy Oy for the research area “Voima” in the open sea area off the coast of Jakobstad and the research area “Norrskär” off the coast of Kaskinen. Eolus Finland Oy/Tuulia Offshore Ab and Wellamo Offshore Ab received permits for the research areas “Tuulia” and “Wellamo” in the Sea of Bothnia off the coast of Pori.

4.1.2024 | The price of exchange electricity – the spot price of electricity sold on the power exchange – will rise to record levels on Friday 5 January 2024. Even at its lowest, the hourly changing price of electricity, including the Finnish value added tax, will be more than a euro per kilowatt-hour (kWh) between 6.00 and 21.00 and more than two euros between 15.00 and 20.00.

20.12.2022 | The aim of the legislative amendment is to support low-income households that have difficulties in paying their electricity bills. Financial support for electricity will be available to households that cannot, due to their low income, fully make use of the tax credit for household expenses to deduct their electricity bills.

8.12.2021 | On 8 December 2021, the Government’s Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy decided to support the proposal for an auction model that is to be applied to leasing public water areas governed by Metsähallitus to private companies for offshore wind power development and construction projects. The proposal aims to boost the market-driven development of offshore wind power.
