19.5.2026 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is requesting comments on the draft government proposal on the adoption and implementation of the social security agreement between Finland and Uruguay. The agreement would make it easier for workers to move between the two countries and would facilitate the operations of businesses. The deadline for submitting comments is 30 June 2026.

23.4.2026 | The EU–Mercosur trade agreement will be applied provisionally from 1 May 2026. Tariff reductions under the agreement will take effect gradually, and tariffs on certain products will be eliminated as of day one. For most products, tariffs will be eliminated over a transition period, the first stage of reductions taking place at the beginning of May.

4.11.2025 | Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will visit Uruguay with a business delegation on 5–9 November.

13.6.2025 | In its meeting on Friday 13 June, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs outlined Finland’s positions on the Commission’s plans to phase out energy imports from Russia, the Commission’s communication on artificial intelligence and its proposal regarding the Asylum Procedure Regulation. The Ministerial Committee on EU Affairs also discussed the EU–Mercosur Association Agreement.

19.5.2026 | Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet begär utlåtanden om ett utkast till regeringsproposition om godkännande och sättande i kraft av en överenskommelse om social trygghet mellan Finland och Uruguay. Genom överenskommelsen underlättas arbetstagarnas rörlighet mellan länderna samt företagens verksamhet. Utlåtanden kan lämnas fram till den 30 juni 2026.

19.5.2026 | Sosiaali- ja terveysministeriö pyytää lausuntoja hallituksen esitysluonnoksesta, joka koskee Suomen ja Uruguayn välisen sosiaaliturvasopimuksen hyväksymistä ja voimaansaattamista. Sopimuksella helpotettaisiin työntekijöiden liikkuvuutta maiden välillä sekä yritysten toimintaa. Lausuntoja voi antaa 30.6.2026 asti.

23.4.2026 | EU:n ja Mercosur-maiden välisen kauppasopimuksen väliaikainen soveltaminen alkaa 1. toukokuuta 2026. Sopimuksen mukaiset tullialennukset alkavat asteittain ja tietyiltä tuotteilta tullit poistuvat kokonaan heti ensimmäisestä päivästä lähtien. Valtaosalla tuotteista tullit poistuvat siirtymäajan puitteissa, jolloin ensimmäinen osuus alennusta tapahtuu toukokuun alussa.
